Homemade granola makes a healthy and delicious snack or breakfast! Most store bought granola is high in sugar and contains unhealthy added ingredients. By creating your own you are able to control the amount of sugar and quality of ingredients, while still being able to add in the flavours you love. You will get added nutrients and extra protein by adding in nuts, seeds and quinoa flakes and still maintain great taste. The perfect way to enjoy this granola is by pairing it with a rich, full fat yogurt!
3 cups quinoa flakes
½ cup almonds, chopped in half
1⁄3 cup sunflower seeds
1⁄3 cup pumpkin seeds
¼ cup flaxseeds
¼ cup hemp seeds
¼ cup raisins
¼ cup dried cranberries
½ cup shredded coconut
1 tsp cinnamon
½ cup coconut sugar
½ cup maple syrup
1⁄3 cup coconut oil butter ghee
Combine coconut sugar, coconut oil butter ghee and maple syrup until mixture is blended over medium heat. Combine all the remaining ingredients and pour the maple syrup blend over. Coat well. Lay mixture out on 2 parchment-lined cookie sheets. Bake at 325˚F for 20 minutes. Stir gently and cook for 20 more minutes, stirring twice.
Hi Yolanda – coconut butter ghee is a mix of coconut oil and clarified butter (ghee). You can find it at our Goodness Me! stores or on our online store! However, you could use regular coconut oil in this recipe as well. I hope this helps!
What is coconut oil butter ghee? I love trying new and healthy foods but get intimidated by ingredients that sound impossible to find
Hi Donna,
This granola recipe would not stay together well enough to form bars. You would need to add some binders like a nut butter and maybe some honey, to get it to stay together a bit more. Unfortunately I have not tried that with this recipe, but we do have some bar recipes on our blog for you to try out.
This recipe looks delicious. Is there a way to make this into granola bars? I would like to make a healthy snack bar with protein in it to keep sugar levels balanced so sugar levels do not drop.
Thanks
