6 Delicious & Healthy Game Day Recipes

No matter what kind of sports fan you are, you’ll want to have a few delicious snacks to munch on for that upcoming game. Luckily, we have game-changing appetizer recipes for you to try—check out 6 of our favourites!

Whether you’re a meat-eater, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, or like eating anything out there, we’ve got an appetizer for you! Best of all, these recipes won’t take long to prepare, and are sure to be crowd-pleasers for anyone you’re enjoying the game with. Treat yourself and your friends to these delicious recipes this week! (PS—they’re great even if you’re not watching the game!)

Sesame Chicken Skewers
Dairy free, gluten free
Plain old chicken is just boring—spice it up by making these delicious sesame chicken skewers! With a combination of sesame oil, tamari, garlic powder, spices, and sesame seeds, it’s the perfect fork-free recipe people will love eating with their hands. Pair it with this Honey Garlic Dipping Sauce and watch them disappear. Click here for the recipe!

Mediterranean Goat Cheese Spread
Vegetarian, gluten free
This recipe literally takes seconds to throw together after you chop your ingredients. Creamy goat cheese is mixed with the finest flavours of the Mediterranean like olives, sundried tomatoes, roasted red pepper, basil, and garlic. Chop, stir, and serve! This recipe goes great with crackers or chips. Head on over to the recipe now!

Stuffed Grilled Dates
Gluten free
Classically called “devils on horseback”, these little delights are the perfect app to serve guests. They’ll be wowed by the combination of flavours as soon as they take a bite! The creamy goat cheese mixes with the sweetness of the dates and smoky bacon flavour to make a small app with big bite! With just three ingredients, they’re easy to put together and make. The recipe here calls for grilling on a BBQ, but you can bake them in the oven for about 15-20 minutes, turning them halfway.

Fully Loaded Tortilla Bites
Gluten free, vegetarian
Nachos are great, but the downside is the toppings are never evenly distributed. Some chips are loaded, and others are just plain. Avoid this disappointment by making these Fully Loaded Tortilla Bites. Each Neal Brothers Tortilla Chip has all the delicious fixins (salsa, refried beans, cheese, sour cream, and green onion) and gets the perfect mix of flavour in one mouthful. Get the recipe here!

Roasted Crunchy Chickpeas
Vegan, vegetarian, dairy free, gluten free
Ditch the oily potato chips this year and make up a batch of these addicting roasted chickpeas! They have the crunch you crave and the flavour you want, but in a much healthier package. They’re great on their own as a snack (who needs peanuts when you can have chickpeas?) but also are great on a salad if you have leftovers. We like Eden Chickpeas because the cans are BPA free and the beans are pre-soaked in water with kombu for easily digestibility. Get the recipe here!

Baked Sweet Potato Chips
Gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, dairy free
Who knew you could make something so delicious and so healthy with just sweet potato, coconut oil, and Herbamare? It’s easy (and possible!) with this recipe for Baked Sweet Potato chips. Best of all, you control the amount of salt you use, or you could use other seasonings to create a different flavour profile. Try cinnamon or paprika for an extra sweet or savoury kick!
