5 New Ways to Use Oats--Not Just for Oatmeal!

Not everyone is a fan of oatmeal. But we have good news for you! Goodness Me! is celebrating the humble oat, and we’ve come up with 5 great ways to use oats every day—and none of them are in oatmeal. From food to facial care, try these great ways to include oats in your everyday life and embrace their benefits!  

DELICIOUS SNACKS: like our yummy Oatmeal Bites! These kid-friendly snacks are so easy to make and incorporate powerhouse ingredients like oats, sunflower seeds, flax seed, and a sweet chocolate addition, these are great for on-the-go snacks for just the right amount of energy. Kids and adults alike will gobble them up!  

GRANOLA: the best thing about granola is that you can customize it to your own preferences. Don’t like almonds? Leave em out! Wanna add cranberries? Go for it. How about a delicious mix of oats, quinoa flakes, sunflower seeds, almonds, cranberries, and coconutwith a delicious glaze of cinnamonsugar, coconut oil, and maple syrup? Now we’re talkin’! Perfect on its own or in yogurt for a hearty breakfast.  

LUXURIOUS FACIAL: oats are good for more than just a delicious snack! Try them in this super nourishing coconut mask that will protect against damage, soften skin, give a youthful glow, and heal and rejuvenate skin naturally.

2 tbsp. coconut milk(not light)
1 heaping tbsp. quick cook oats
3 drops lavender essential oil

Mix well so the oats absorb some of the liquid before applying to your face. Leave on for 5-10 minutes. To remove, add water and gently massage off. Once completely removed, moisturize with a natural lotion. Use every 3-4 weeks.  

PANCAKES: it seems that the traditional pancake recipe is getting revamped every day to make protein pancakes, gluten free pancakes, even banana pancakes. The next time you whip up your favourite batch, try adding oats for a surprisingly delicious texture and flavour. Or, check out our Pumpkin Oat Pancakesthat use oat flour as a binder. It’s like having pumpkin pie for breakfast!  

BURGERS: take your oats beyond the breakfast world into a BBQ bonanza. Adding oats to your burgers adds a wholesome texture and flavour to homemade patties. Or, you could try them in vegetarian burgers, like black bean combinations, for a binder. The options are endless!
