From all of us at Goodness Me! I would like to thank you for the trust and confidence that you have put in us as we navigate through these challenging times. We feel that it is our duty as your local grocer to provide a place where you can feel safe to shop as you seek healthy products to take home to your families.
The health and well-being of our customers and staff continue to be our top priority and we wanted to update you with the latest measures we have put in place:
Social Distancing Actions:
Install Plexiglas Shields at every cash lane; completed by March 28th
Floor decals at every cash lane to help remind everyone to maintain social distancing of 6 feet
Additional $2.25 /hour for store staff: In appreciation of our front line workers, last Monday (March 23rd) we announced a temporary $2.25 per hour wage increase, effective immediately, with no fixed end date
Caring for our Staff: in addition to a free meal per day and 50% off selected prepared foods to take home, we are also providing our staff with a range of free supplements that will boost their immune systems to help them stay healthy
Curbside Pickup: We plan on testing this new contactless process at our Waterloo store beginning April 1st and hope to roll out to all locations by April 6th
Store Hours: We will continue to stay open from 8 AM to 9 PM to enable more space per customer per hour
Hand Washing: Staff washing hands for 20 seconds every 15 minutes
Sanitizing: Sanitizing common surfaces frequently following a detailed protocol
Grocery Carts: Hand & Cart Sanitization Station in all stores upon entry
Social Distancing: We request that everyone practice Social Distancing (maintain a distance of 6 feet from others)
Senior Shopping Option: We encourage seniors looking to shop during quieter hours to visit from 8-9 AM everyday

Reusable Bags: If you choose to use reusable bags, we ask that you pack your own
How are we doing?

SECOND UPDATE: MARCH 20, 2020
What a week it has been, since writing to you last Friday! I do hope you are staying healthy.
Our Goodness Me! team is doing a remarkable job in continuing to serve in this critical, front line role through these challenging times. While many people in other industries are being asked to stay home, our team, along with medical, pharmacy and other critical services, are being asked to come to work. Yes, we are concerned about staying healthy, while remaining committed to serving in this time of need, and we are confident that you are eager to help us, as you shop at Goodness Me!
We have implemented many changes including washing hands, social distancing, sanitizing common surfaces, moving from self serve to pre-packaged, encouraging debit/credit, etc.
Our goals continue to be:
Protection of our staff and customers
Providing the essential service of making healthy products available for our customers
Understanding and caring for our staff
Protection by Social Distancing
We need your continued help on this one!
Please do your very best to maintain a 2 meter / 6-foot distance from others in the stores.
Have a friend shop for you if you should be self isolating.
We are not a mass retailer and do not have crowded stores, so we are not planning to limit the number of customers in the store.
For seniors who might want to shop with the least number of people in the store, we would recommend 8-9 AM.
We are not planning to reduce the number of store hours at this time as this would increase the number of customers/hour in the store.
We look forward to serving you, and again, please remember to help yourself and our staff by maintaining social distancing.
Providing an Essential Service
We are here for you and your family!
Our people are choosing to come to work for you.
They are taking all precautions to minimize the risk to ourselves and you.
We appreciate you encouraging and thanking our staff for their dedication to serving during these challenging times
Understanding and Caring for our Staff
We are listening to and understanding the concerns of our staff.
As mentioned above, we are planning to stay open for our full store hours, which gives our staff the opportunity to continue to earn their full compensation. This is not available to many others during this time.
We are also providing a free meal daily for each person working in our stores.
In addition, we are providing for our store staff, 50% off our hot and cold bar items that they can take home.
Finally, while we are encouraging our staff to follow Canadian health authority guidance as they serve, we do not force anyone to work.
Thank you for your continued confidence and trust in the Goodness Me! team. Stay safe. Talk to you soon.

Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19).

I wanted to personally reach out to you and provide an update on the actions that Goodness Me! is taking to help prevent the spread of the virus. We are actively following the lead of Canadian public health authorities at this important time and have taken the following precautionary measures:
Increased Routine Cleaning: Increased sanitization of common areas such as countertops, cash lanes, and bathroom door handles. Hand & Cart Sanitization stations have been set up at the front entrance of all of our stores.
Prioritizing Good Hygiene Practices: Implementing continuous reminders about good hygiene practices and supporting our staff with the necessary resources.
Suspending All Food and Beverage Sampling In-Store: Effective immediately, all food and beverage sampling in stores have stopped until further notice.
Suspending Educational Programs In-Store: Effective immediately in-store programs have been canceled and our team is ramping up webinars so we can continue to stay connected and educate our community.
Staying Informed: Closely monitoring the situation, and regularly providing all of our store staff with the most up-to-date safety guidelines, as recommended by Health Canada and other health officials.
The health and well-being of our community have been our priority for the past 39 years and will remain our mission over the days and weeks to come. We will continue to provide information about the steps we are taking to address this rapidly evolving situation.
