Serrapeptase, which is classified as a “proteolytic enzyme, is thought to work in four ways: 

1. It relieves chronic pain by blocking the release of the body’s pain-inducing amines (natural chemicals) in inflamed tissue.
2. It reduces inflammation by thinning the fluids formed from inflammatory conditions, and helps the fluid to drain. This also speeds tissue repair.
3. As a proteolytic enzyme it breaks down dead or damaged tissue (without harming living tissue) dissolving these protein by-products.
4. Acts as a “mucolytic enzyme” that helps break down mucous, which is protein based.

What is Serrapeptase?

Serrapeptase, also called Serrapeptidase or Serratio Peptidase, is a natural enzyme that breaks down or “digests” dead tissue or particles made of protein.

Who should take Serrapeptase?

If you have chronic inflammation or pain, Serrapeptase acts as an anti-inflammatory. It does not have the side effects associated with NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). If you have swelling, it can reduce fluid retention (edema), and post-operative swelling, and can help if you have sinus issues like sinusitis or throat ailments.

Research has shown that Serrapeptase may also help to break up and remove other types of disruptive tissue and build-up that may cause other health issues, and to clear blockages that create pain and impair wellness. What`s an Enteric Coating?

An enteric coating is like a barrier applied to oral tablets/caplets and capsules which controls the location in the digestive system where it is absorbed. Enteric refers to the small intestine, therefore enteric coatings prevent release of medicinal ingredient (Serrapeptase) before it reaches the small intestine. For example, it will not dissolve in the acidic juices of the stomach (pH ~3), but in the alkaline (pH 7-9) environment present in the small intestine. To obtain a desired action or avoid the side effects enteric coating is used in drugs that have an irritant effect on the stomach (Aspirin), or are acid-unstable (Serrappetase). Cellulose and algae complex is used for enteric coating of Serrapeptase.

The entire capsule and and its contents are Guaranteed Pure: Contains no animal substances, artificial preservatives, colours or flavours, added starch, sugar, lactose, milk, salt, yeast, wheat or gluten.

Phthalate Free Enteric Coating

Since 2009, Enerex have been using Phthalate free enteric coating. The new coating is vegetarian and is sourced from seaweed/algae.

This product is both vegan and vegetarian since the capsule, and its excipients are all vegetarian sourced. The enzyme cannot be classified as vegetarian or non vegetarian as enzymes are enzymes which are reproduced in laboratories and non synthetic. Enzymes are made from Amino Acids and are a class of proteins. Just like bacteria, they are not vegetables nor animals. They are in a class by themselves.
