LAURA STOKOE: Healthy Living Advisor Leader at Goodness Me!
HER PICK: Matcha Tea
WHY: Matcha tea is my absolute favourite because it’s the best of both worlds: it gives a mental and physical energy boost while also calming the mind and enhancing focus. For this reason, it’s great not only for physical activity but also (my fave) for times when brain power is needed and you want to work more effectively. Matcha is essentially ground-up green tea leaves, so you’re actually consuming the leaves, which makes the antioxidant power that much greater. Although it contains caffeine, it also provides L-theanine, a calming amino acid that reduces stress. I love the calm, focused energy I get from it. Matcha rocks!

HIS PICK: Organic Traditions Holy Basil Tea
WHY: Am I a hardcore, invite all my friends, ‘come-to-my-house-this-Friday-for-a-super-fun-tea-party’ kind of a guy?  No…thankfully I’m not.  However I do know a good tea when I taste one.  That said, I normally find myself reaching for a tea that will provides more benefit than just a taste sensation.  My ‘Go-To’ tea is Organic Traditions Holy Basil.  This isn’t your standard garden variety basil…no, no!  This is a powerful anti-stress, cortisol-reducing, mind-focusing, and grounding herb!  Holy Basil is an adaptogenic herb which has been scientifically shown to decrease stress hormone levels.  In my fast paced life, Holy Basil helps me to stay focused on the things that matter!

HER PICK: She couldn’t choose just one! Traditional Medicinals Roasted Dandelion Root Tea & Zhena’s Gypsy Coconut Chai Black Tea
WHY: What’s my favourite tea? Hey, I love teas, so how can I pick just one? Restraining myself, I have kept my top picks to two very different choices, for two very different purposes.

NOURISHING MEDICINAL TEAS play a big role in my everyday self-care. I love Traditional Medicinals Roasted Dandelion Root Tea for its rich, full-bodied flavour AND for how it makes me feel: energized and light. Beneficial and supportive for the liver and digestive system, its quality organic formula ensures positive results. We commonly enjoy sweet, salty, sour, and spicy foods; however, bitter ones are generally ignored. This tea provides the slightly bitter taste the body needs, while providing an equal measure of pleasure I truly enjoy. I invite you to experience it, too!

ULTIMATE PLEASURE TEAS enhance my day when I pause to savour the delight a good cup of tea can bring. One I especially love is Zhena’s Gypsy Black Tea Coconut Chai. Starting with finest quality Ceylon tea and perfectly seasoned with cardamom, ginger, cloves, and other spices, the flavour is inviting and rich without being overpowering or even cloying, as some flavoured teas can be. Caffeine? Yes, a moderate amount – never enough to make me jittery – so I enjoy it at breakfast or into the mid-afternoon, with a touch of organic cream. The ingredients are certified organic, and fair trade, so they are healthful for me as well as for the communities where they are produced.

HER PICK: Stash Meyer Lemon Tea
WHY: At the end of the day I look forward to sitting down, putting my feet up and enjoying a cup of STASH Meyer Lemon tea.  This blend of rosehips, lemongrass, orange peel, Meyer lemon oil & safflower is a burst of lemon flavour without the lip-puckering tartness.  Not only does it taste amazing, but as it steeps, its fragrant aroma fills the room—a delight any time of the day, hot or iced!

HER PICK: Celestial Seasonings Bengal Spice
WHY: Celestial Seasoning's Bengal Spice is an aromatic, flavourful and warming tea. It is the perfect addition to your tea collection for the upcoming winter. The combination of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves plus the fact that it is caffeine-free makes it my favourite thing to end the day with. You can drink it by itself or add milk and honey for an at-home latte. Once you have tried this tea, there is no going back!
