First Segment: What’s so Super about Super Foods?

Emily and Janet review what’s expected of a superfood, and how superfoods can’t save your diet if you’re not contributing other whole, healthy foods along side “super foods”. Emily also touches on the fact that superfoods have been around for ages, and that the banana was considered the first superfood!
Janet also mentions the superfood Spirulina, which was used in a therapeutic way on children who suffered radiation poisoning in Chernobyl.
Emily and Janet also predict that Moringa will be the next superfood that is trending! Do you agree?

Second Segment: Questions From Listeners
16:24-27:48

Question #1
Lilly asks, “I have found myself more uncomfortable with internal feminine hygiene products as of late and find pads to be uncomfortable – would you recommend the diva cup or do you have any other natural feminine hygiene products you’d recommend?”

Emily and Janet say, while this topic is taboo to some it is important to talk about. It’s important to reflect what we’re putting in our bodies and how it effects our bodies. The Diva Cup is a great choice because it’s comfortable, practical, reusable, and washable. There are also cotton tampons and pads, it seems that cloth pads are making a comeback as well.

Question #2

Becca asks, “Hey ladies! I’m a busy working mom who hates mornings. I am constantly skipping breakfast and some days I find it too much to even reach for my blender. Any tips?”

  • Evive Smoothie Pucks – Yupi Flavour: Just have to mix the pucks with water or milk and shake it up
  • Emily is making Janet’s No Cook Sesame Bars – they’re sweet but have loads of protein to keep you full
  • Emily is also making muffins with almond or coconut flour and eggs for protein – you can also freeze your leftovers because they will thaw out quickly!
  • Some individuals can skip breakfast and start eating later in the day – this is only recommended if you have a healthy relationship with food, and will still eat enough to keep your body fuelled throughout the day
  • If you’re struggling with the morning, and find yourself groggy – you should be eating breakfast
  • Butter Coffee – Butter, MCT Oil, Coconut Oil & Collagen

What’s For Dinner?

Pesto Zucchini Noodles

  5. Dice ½ of a tomato – set aside

  7. Mix chicken breast, onion, tomato and zucchini noodles together

  9. Serve and enjoy!
