Second Segment: Audience Questions (19:48–28:48)

Katie asks, “I’ve got a couple of picky eaters at home and I’m concerned that they’re not getting enough healthy fats into their diet. I’ve tried so many things, and I just can’t win! Help!” Many parents can identify with Katie’s question—and this is a topic that Janet is very passionate about.   Here are some suggestions from Janet & Emily on how to feed your picky eaters:

  • Smoothies: They’re a great way to hide vitamins, nutrients and healthy fats
  • Butter: Organic grass fed butter has a higher nutritional profile and is DELICIOUS.
  • Desserts: Fat bombs are a fantastic way to get some healthy fats into the diet in a sweet treat! Pinterest is full of great suggestions—just watch out for the sweetener of choice. And don’t forget the full-fat whipping cream, that’s always a great option!

Gordon asks, “I know that bone broth is so hot right now—but I’m a vegan, so that’s a problem for me.   Are there any vegan alternatives to bone broth that would give me the same nutrients?”

  • Try making your own vegetable broths using onion, garlic, carrot, celery—these flavourful veggies are best! This broth will provide lots of healthy vitamins & minerals, but remember—because bones are not being used it won’t have the collagen that many people count on from their bone broth.
  • Julie Daniluk offers a fantastic recipe in her Hot Detox book for a delicious and nourishing vegetable broth using sea vegetable https://goodnessme.ca/products/hot-detox?variant=34131546062
