These nutrient-dense nuts have great health benefits: they support healthy bones due to their high calcium, magnesium, potassium and vitamin K content, healthy skin thanks to copper, which helps with the production of melanin and the formation of collagen, and brain function thanks to zinc and iron.
Contrary to popular belief, they’re not the highest-fat nut. The fats they do contain are mostly mono-and polyunsaturated heart-healthy fats, which contribute to lower bad cholesterol and the risk of heart disease. They’ve also been shown to reduce inflammation, improve metabolism and lower the risk of diabetes.
The cashew grows under a fruit called the cashew apple. The nut is harvested and expertly separated from the apple by hand, dried under the sun for several days and then cooled under the trees, before being shelled and packaged. The cultivation of these labour-intensive nuts have allowed entire farming communities to thrive, thanks to our supplier’s sustainable trade practices and above-average wages.
