Slow-Cooker Mulled Apple Cider with Cloves & Cardamom

Making this in the crockpot will make your entire house smell like fall.  

2 litres organic apple cider
1 organic orange
12 organic cloves
lemon zest
4 cinnamon sticks
1 star anise
3 cardamom pods
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
12 allspice berries
2 tbsp. honey (optional)  

Using a peeler, peel a couple slices of the orange.  Stick the cloves into the peeled section of the orange.  Place everything into the crockpot, including the slices of orange peel.  Let simmer 2 hours on HI or 4 hours on LOW.  Strain cider when serving.
